Ukraine’s President meets with the US President on Tuesday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, and will work toward an energy ceasefire with Russia.

Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on X on Monday: “The energy sector—critical infrastructure and Ukraine’s food exports—should no longer be targeted by Russia, and this will lead to reciprocal de-escalation steps from us.”

Donald Trump, the US president, wrote on Truth Social on Monday that Russia “has lost control of its diesel industry because of the war with Ukraine,” adding: “This stupid and endless war must end.”

According to Reuters, citing a knowledgeable source, Zelensky also discussed with Mr. Trump the provision of US Patriot missiles for the winter.
