U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Tuesday, 10 Mehr, on the sidelines of the meeting of ministers and senior financial officials of the G20, that Washington is set to intensify its economic pressure on Iran, adding that the United States will likely sanction one bank this week and another bank next week.

Bessent said: “We will likely announce sanctions on one bank this week, and the week after we will also announce another.” He added that the United States is in talks with its allies on this matter and has their support.

The U.S. Treasury secretary also said that Washington is reviewing sanctions on aircraft leasing companies and other entities that do business with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

He said: “These could be different institutions. It could be aircraft leasing companies that we will examine. It could be anyone who does business with the IRGC. We are identifying and tracking the IRGC’s assets.”
