For years, the overwhelming majority of people in the United States have wanted to make daylight saving time permanent, but until today no government has been able to do it. With pride, I announce that the House of Representatives has passed this bill and it has now been sent to the Senate for final approval. People are tired of being forced to change their clocks twice a year. This is pointless, a hassle, and in some cases very costly. For cities and states that have care towers and remote areas, this amounts to millions of dollars in expenses. It has also recently been raised that this time change is harmful to health due to the anxiety it creates. Prominent medical, criminology, and economic studies have shown that putting an end to twice-a-year clock changes and having more natural light in the evenings can:

- reduce the rates of theft and murder, - decrease traffic accidents (especially accidents involving pedestrians), - lower the risk of heart disease, stroke, and seasonal depression, - make children’s commute from school to home safer, - provide more time to be with family, - significantly support extracurricular activities, - boost sports, fitness, tourism, retail, and restaurants (and many other sectors), - and, by benefiting from more daylight, reduce energy costs.

In other words, let’s keep the clock as it is now and never change it again. This is something that Republicans, Democrats, and independents can unite on. I urge the Republican senators to put aside their objections and allow the review process in the Republican wing to continue without obstacles. Let’s pass the “Sunlight Protection Act” as quickly as possible. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
