Two decades after the government of Israel at the time shut down the Kadim settlement in the occupied West Bank, a new generation of Israeli settlers has returned to the settlement.

According to the settlers’ regional council, on Thursday, 30 families entered the settlement from Tel Aviv; a move carried out in the shadow of a wave of Jewish nationalism stirred up by the current Israeli government.

They entered in small groups and some under military escort, while Israeli blue-and-white flags were flying on their vehicles as they passed by Palestinian villages and farms. Some of them were towing trailers behind their cars filled with bedding, furniture, and building materials.

The Israeli government has lifted the 20-year ban on the establishment of Jewish settlements around Jenin. Palestinian residents, watching with concern, are observing this new effort to expand settlement activity in the area.
