🔻 Turkey issues arrest warrant for Netanyahu in case of seizure of Gaza aid flotilla

Turkey has issued an international arrest warrant for Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, as part of investigations into Israel’s seizure of an aid flotilla bound for Gaza.

Akin Gorlük, Turkey’s Minister of Justice, announced the news on the social media platform X on Friday.

More than 430 activists supporting Palestinian rights from about 40 countries who were on a maritime flotilla intended to help people in Gaza were detained in May (four months ago) by Israeli forces and transferred to Israel.

The detained activists were then removed from Israel and transferred to Turkey on Turkish aircraft.

The activists, who were part of the Global Zeff movement’s flotilla campaign, sought to break the maritime blockade of Gaza.

Turkey had previously also issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and a number of senior Israeli officials over allegations of “genocide” in connection with Israel’s actions in the war in Gaza.
