🔶 Twelve dead and at least 10 injured after a Polish bus overturns in Hungary
A Polish bus overturned on a highway in eastern Hungary. Péter Magyar, Hungary’s prime minister, said in a Sunday morning post on the X social media platform that the accident killed 12 people and injured at least 10 others.
Police also said the bus overturned in the early hours of Sunday near the town of Mzokercstsh in eastern Hungary after it fell into a ditch by the roadside. According to police, at the time of the incident the bus was traveling on the highway toward the city of Nirádihāza.
According to the state news agency MTI, at the time of the accident 57 passengers and two drivers were on the bus.
Police said on its website: “A bus with a Polish license plate traveling on the M3 highway toward Nirádihāza entered a ditch and overturned after leaving the roadway in a straight section of the road. Initial information suggests that the driver may have fallen asleep.”
Police, confirming the deaths of 12 people and injuries to several others, added that the bus driver was being detained. The injured were taken to hospital.
