🔻Trump sent the nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia to Congress

The administration of Donald Trump submitted a non-civilian nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia to the U.S. Congress for review; a move that begins the process of reviewing the agreement in accordance with the “Atomic Energy Act” of the United States.

Under this agreement, Saudi Arabia will be allowed to enrich uranium within the framework of its non-civilian nuclear program. However, one U.S. administration official, who spoke to The Hill, a publication that follows congressional news, said that the condition that Donald Trump added after signing the agreement remains in place.

According to the official, the position of the U.S. president has not changed, and the agreement will be implemented only if Saudi Arabia joins the Abraham Accords and normalizes its relations with Israel.

The agreement has also heightened concerns about accelerating the nuclear arms race in the Middle East, particularly in a context in which, over the past year, the United States has described its main objective as preventing Iran from obtaining a “nuclear weapon” and preventing a nuclear arms race in the Middle East.
