Trump: Iran’s war will end after the U.S. midterm elections, but not with a bad deal

🔸 Donald Trump, the U.S. president, on Sunday, September 22, once again said he expects Iran’s war to end shortly after the U.S. midterm election in November, but emphasized that he will not agree to a bad deal with Tehran.

🔸 During a conversation with reporters while traveling to Ireland and taking part in the “Irish Open” golf tournament, he said: “Iran’s war will end right after the midterm election; maybe even before that, but it will end after the election. The price of gasoline will fall like a stone.”

🔸 He also said that Iran is strongly seeking to reach an agreement and has contacted the United States repeatedly.

🔸 Trump explained: “Let me tell you this: Iran really wants to make a deal. They keep calling. They want to do a deal. But the deal has to be the right one. I won’t accept a deal that isn’t good.”

🔸 The U.S. president first mentioned the period after the U.S. midterm election as the time when the war with Iran would end on September 18, and since then he has repeated it on several occasions.

🔸 However, over the past week, he has also threatened that the U.S. army may attack Iran’s nuclear facilities in Kalah Kleng Haszla mountain.

🔸 Kalah Kleng Haszla is near the uranium enrichment facilities at Natanz, and Western intelligence bodies believe Iran is building an undeclared enrichment facility deep inside this mountain.

🔸 In his Sunday conversation with reporters, when asked about an upcoming meeting by Iran with Middle Eastern Arab countries, Donald Trump also said: “It doesn’t matter to me. It’s up to them. There’s no problem.”

🔸 Iran said on Friday that a meeting with the Gulf Arab countries will be held on Monday, September 23, in Oman, and an Iranian senior official also told Reuters that the meeting will be held on the initiative of Muscat, and the status of the Strait of Hormuz will be one of the topics of discussion.

🔸 This comes as, on Saturday, Bahrain announced that it will not take part in any group meeting with the Islamic Republic before the resumption of diplomatic relations with Iran, and therefore it will not attend the proposed meeting about the Strait of Hormuz.

🔸 The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that any possible Iranian and Omani agreement on determining temporary and safe routes in the Strait of Hormuz does not “necessarily mean establishing full and lasting security” in this waterway.
