🔸Three workers at an olive-processing unit in the Gilvan district of Tarom County died as a result of an incident in a tank used to store and process olives.
🔸Ayoub Begdeli, the director-general of Crisis Management for the Zanjan Provincial Administration, said on Saturday, the fourth of Mehr, that the three workers had entered a tank to extract the bitterness from olives that contained a solution of citric acid and washing materials.
🔸According to him, initial investigations indicate that the tank’s enclosed space and the dangerous conditions inside it were the cause of the incident.
🔸Begdeli added: «A reduction in oxygen levels, the accumulation of gases resulting from the fermentation of organic materials, the presence of vapors and an acidic environment, the lack of proper ventilation, and the absence of personal safety equipment were effective in the occurrence of this incident.»
