🔶 The United States is examining its troop redeployment in the Middle East
The United States may use a potential war with Iran as an opportunity for a fundamental review of its military presence in the Middle East. According to a report by The Washington Post, the Pentagon is conducting assessments regarding the withdrawal of part of U.S. forces from the region.
The Washington Post, citing eight unnamed U.S. officials, has reported that after the end of the war with Iran, the United States may reduce the number of its military personnel in the Middle East. In the meantime, the Persian Gulf—where U.S. forces have suffered the greatest damage from Iranian attacks—is at the center of attention.
The damage inflicted as a result of Iran’s missile and drone attacks on American bases and facilities in the region could provide an opportunity to reduce U.S. military presence at relatively low cost. Otherwise, some bases may require expensive reconstruction. According to this report, the U.S. Department of Defense has also announced in advance that it is possible that all of the current U.S. bases in the region will not continue to be used.
