🔸The United States condemns drone attack on the office of the Kurdistan Region prime minister
Tom Barrack, the U.S. ambassador to Turkey and the special representative of the president of this country on Syria and Iraq, strongly condemned the drone attack on the office of Masrour Barzani, the prime minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, in Erbil.
On X, Barrack described the attack as an unacceptable action against the Kurdish allies of the United States and a direct threat to regional stability. He emphasized that Washington will not tolerate such actions and that it supports the efforts of the Iraqi government to restore full sovereignty of the country and to place all weapons and security forces under the command of the central government.
Masrour Barzani said that, based on information and investigations by the Counter-Terrorism Directorate of the Kurdistan Region, his personal office and the location of the head of the intelligence organization’s residence were targeted by drones that had taken off from Iran. He described these attacks as “unacceptable” and said they are “a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region.”
