The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned a missile attack on an oil tanker belonging to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company as it transited the Strait of Hormuz, and called targeting commercial shipping in this waterway “naval piracy by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.”
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement: “Targeting commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool for pressure or economic extortion are maritime raiding acts by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.”
The statement said such actions constitute a direct threat to regional stability and its people, as well as global energy security.
The UAE also urged the Islamic Republic to stop the attacks, fully commit to the cessation of hostile actions, and fully and unconditionally reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
