The U.S. Treasury Department has sanctioned five Indian citizens and one Turkish citizen in connection with the Islamic Republic.

According to a statement by the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Treasury Department, 27 companies and entities and 22 vessels were also added to the sanctions list.

The U.S. Treasury Department said that new sanctions against oil tankers will dismantle the remaining network of the Islamic Republic’s “shadow fleet.”

The ministry also said that the sanctioned oil tankers have played a role in the transfer of millions of barrels of Iranian crude oil, petroleum products, and petrochemical products to markets in South and East Asia.

The U.S. Treasury Secretary said that the department is depriving Tehran’s despotic government of financial resources it uses to fuel war in the region.
