On Saturday, the U.S. Embassy in Jordan, by issuing a statement to its citizens, warned them in the Middle East to consider leaving the region or be prepared to leave it if conditions in the area deteriorate.

The statement, released amid reports about the U.S. Army preparing for broader attacks on the Islamic Republic, adds that the possibility of unforeseen developments and an escalation of clashes exists.

The U.S. Embassy asked American citizens present in the Middle East to act with greater caution and full vigilance, and to keep themselves prepared for the possibility of flight cancellations, temporary closure of airspace, and disruptions to travel.

The U.S. Embassy also asked American citizens outside the Middle East to “seriously reconsider” traveling to or passing through the region.
