🔸 The scope of cyberattacks on America’s water-supply systems has expanded to at least seven states, including Michigan and Minnesota, and American officials say Iran is the main suspect behind these attacks.

🔸 The New York Times has reported that some attacks disrupted the operations of water networks and that some facilities were forced to continue running manually, but so far there has been no report of drinking water being contaminated or of a threat to public health.

🔸 The New York Times writes that, according to American and state officials and also people familiar with the matter, investigators believe that this week’s cyberattack on dozens of municipal water-supply networks in Minnesota was likely carried out by Iranian hackers, and federal authorities and cybersecurity experts say the pattern of the attacks matches the activity of hackers affiliated with Iran.

🔸 However, the U.S. Federal Police and the country’s Environmental Protection Agency have said that the investigations are still in their early stages and that Iran’s responsibility has not been proven with certainty.
