The dollar price in Iran’s open market has crossed the 190,000-toman mark and reached 190,500 tomans.
According to reports from gold and currency information websites in Iran, the transfer rate of the dollar in the open market reached 195,000 tomans, and each British pound was traded for 260,000 tomans.
The gap between the banknote and transfer rates indicates that transferring currency abroad has become a separate market with a higher price.
The fresh surge in currency prices occurs at the same time as the announcement of intensified economic pressure by the United States. Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury secretary, said he would announce new economic measures against the Islamic Republic and entities with commercial ties to it on Monday, the second of Shahrivar.
