Tasnim news agency wrote on Wednesday, the first of Mehr, that the interaction between Abbas Araqchi, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, and Steve Witkoff, the special representative of U.S. President Donald Trump, in New York, was carried out without coordination and without obtaining approval from policy-making and responsible institutions, including the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic.

The news agency cited statements by Mohsen Rezai, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, who had said that the seven conditions of the Islamic Republic were supposed to be conveyed to “intermediaries” again.

Tasnim considered these remarks to be an implicit confirmation of the claim that no authorization had been issued for direct interaction with Witkoff.

The news agency then criticized Araqchi’s action, calling it “contrary to the interests and national interests,” and demanded that he be held accountable for this move.
