Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister arrived in Washington on Monday amid an escalation in fighting between Riyadh and Yemen’s Houthis.

According to Reuters, citing Saudi Arabia’s official news agency, Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Marco Rubio will discuss bilateral relations and key regional and international developments.

The visit took place a day after Faisal bin Farhan’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly, where he said the Islamic Republic has carried out an open attack on civilian and economic targets across the region.

In the same place, the Saudi foreign minister warned that efforts to close the waterways of the Middle East pose a threat to global energy security, and called on the international community to condemn the Houthis’ actions that threaten Red Sea shipping.
