The Russian Embassy in Tehran denied reports that Russian diplomats and specialists working at the Bushehr nuclear power plant intend to leave Iran.

The embassy said in a statement: “Neither embassy staff nor Russian experts at the Bushehr nuclear power plant have any plan for evacuation. Work continues as normal.”

The Russian Embassy claimed that reports to the contrary are “fake.”

Earlier, amid the ongoing war between the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic, Russia removed its personnel from the Bushehr site—the only active nuclear facility in Iran—and Iranian domestic media reported hits of projectiles to the grounds of this site.

Satellite images released in July showed damage at the facility.
