Reuters, citing data from shipping and global trade company “Kpler”, said that following the Houthi militants’ claim of an attack on a Saudi oil tanker, ship traffic in the Persian Gulf also fell sharply.

Reuters, announcing the reduction in ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb strait, said that on Wednesday, 14 Mordad, only two vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz. One vessel carrying coal with a flag of Panama entered this waterway, and another vessel with a flag of the Marshall Islands, carrying cargo, exited the strait.

Reuters said that on Tuesday, 13 Mordad, eight vessels had transited this international waterway.

In recent days, Houthi militants, supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran, attacked some vessels, including two Saudi ships and an Indian ship, in the Red Sea.

The United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Australia are among the countries that consider the Houthis a terrorist group.
