Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Türkiye, in a phone call with Donald Trump, President of the United States, asked to pursue talks with the Islamic Republic in order to reduce tensions between the two countries and announced Ankara’s support for efforts toward peace.

Türkiye’s presidency said this on Tuesday and wrote: “Erdogan said making the maximum use of diplomacy regarding tensions between Iran and the United States is of great importance. We hope that the talks will continue, and that Türkiye will continue to support efforts for peace.”

The call came after a senior official of the Islamic Republic told Reuters on Monday that the government is shifting its posture to a “fully aggressive” state of military readiness, because efforts to negotiate a permanent end to the war have not yielded results.
