🔻 QatarEnergy CEO: The Strait of Hormuz crisis may delay our development projects

Saad Kaabi, the CEO of QatarEnergy, says that the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz could delay the implementation of some of the company’s development projects, because essential equipment cannot enter Qatar.

He said that QatarEnergy currently produces only a “very small” volume of liquefied natural gas (LNG), but if the Strait of Hormuz is reopened, normal operations could resume within a few weeks.

Kaabi said at the Qatar Economic Forum in New York that some development project units for the northeast gas field are expected to be commissioned in 2027, and production from the North South field project is set to begin in 2028.

On Sunday, Iran once again said that it will not open the Strait of Hormuz unless the terms of the temporary ceasefire agreement of June with the United States are implemented, as interpreted by Tehran.
