Putin ‘ready to resume trilateral contacts, decries Europe’s schizophrenia'

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Moscow is ready to resume trilateral negotiations with the United States and Ukraine, in an interview with Russian state channel reporter Pavel Zarubin.

Putin said the aim of any new talks would be to discuss security arrangements for Ukraine and Russia after a final peace agreement is reached, rather than after a temporary suspension of hostilities. He added that broader European security issues should also be discussed.

Turning to Europe, Putin accused some countries of launching an "anti-Russian campaign across all fronts" and of constantly talking about a Russian threat and preparations for war, which he described as "a kind of political schizophrenia."

"But I hope this, too, will pass," he said.
