🔸Protests and criticisms by some prominent figures on social media regarding executions in Iran have been met with a sharp and threatening reaction from the Tasnim news agency.

🔸In a report published on Wednesday, 7 Mordad, Tasnim, which is close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, called celebrities who opposed the executions “traitors to the country” and wrote that when dealing with them, “once and for all, one must put aside politeness, awkwardness, and prudence.”

🔸In the same piece, Tasnim also accused some celebrities of “showing concern for terrorists,” and wrote that the judiciary and security bodies should “summon, try, and imprison a few of them” and “present the celebrities’ defenses of their rotten and empty ideas to the public so that the bowl of their disgrace falls to the ground and there is no more honor left for them.”

🔸In recent weeks, the Iranian government has launched a new wave of political executions, which, after the execution carried out on Tuesday in Isfahan, prompted some prominent figures as well as a number of cultural and artistic figures to show a broader reaction using the hashtags “Don’t execute” and “No to execution.”
