The President of the European Council, after talks with Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, called on Tehran to stop attacks against neighboring countries, fully restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and resume its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.

In a post on his X social media account, Antonio Costa wrote that he had a “frank and substantial” conversation with Masoud Pezeshkian and, in this discussion, emphasized that dialogue is the only solution and the way to end disputes and ensure lasting peace across the region.

The President of the European Council also wrote that he called for an end to Iran’s attacks on its neighbors and for the full restoration of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

He also asked Iran to resume its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.

At the end, Costa wrote that the European Union is ready to support all ongoing diplomatic efforts.
