Pouya Hosseinifard and Rasul Rezaei, among those detained in last year’s protests in Dey, and prisoners at Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, were sentenced to death. In addition, Reza Omidvari, also among those detained in those protests, and Arghavan Fallahi, a 24-year-old political prisoner, are facing death sentences after approval by the Supreme Court.
Roqeieh Rezaei, a journalist, said these executions are the legacy of Ali Khamenei, which continued even after his killing to preserve the loyalty of the suppression forces. She added that the Islamic Republic, with these rulings, is trying to show its forces that it supports them and, as in the past, in response to the killing of its forces, executes several people.
