🔻 Pakistan Interior Minister Meets Iran’s New National Security Council Secretary

Iranian media have reported that Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan’s interior minister, met with Mohsen Rezaei, the new secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

According to Mehr News Agency, in the meeting Mr. Rezaei welcomed Pakistan’s “participation and movements” in regional issues.

The secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council also called Pakistan “Iran’s strategic rear” and Iran “Pakistan’s strategic rear.”

After the start of the war between the United States and Israel against Iran, Pakistan acted as a mediator between Tehran and Washington, the outcome of which was the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries.

On 17 June, the United States and Iran signed a 14-article memorandum of understanding under which, while establishing a ceasefire, a 60-day period was set for negotiations to permanently end the war—this deadline will end next week.

Based on published reports, Islamabad is trying to mediate again between the two countries in order to reach another agreement, and for that reason Pakistan’s interior minister has traveled to Tehran.
