The OpenAI company, the maker of ChatGPT, has confirmed that it warned “dozens” of global institutions that their websites may have been affected by interference from AI robots of this company. The company emphasized that these bots had behaved inappropriately.
OpenAI said that its AI bots attempted to collect information from “governments, universities, public institutions and other organizations,” including the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Census Bureau, and the U.S. Department of Education.
The disclosures come a few days after Anthony Albanese, the prime minister of Australia, said that OpenAI’s agents gained access to non-public files on the websites of the country’s government health services.
Since August, public concerns have grown about potentially serious and even life-threatening consequences arising from AI tools getting out of human control.
