Simultaneous with the 100th anniversary of Ahmad Shamlu’s birth, the unveiling ceremony for a 17-volume collection of works by this contemporary Iranian poet and writer—scheduled to be held at the Cheshmeh bookstore in Alborz, Karaj—was canceled, according to Cheshmeh Publishing, “by order of officials.” The publisher wrote on its Instagram page: “Today we were supposed to unveil the unpublished works of Ahmad Shamlu from a 17-volume collection at the Cheshmeh Alborz bookstore in Karaj… they didn’t let it happen.”
