Oman’s foreign minister at the UN General Assembly emphasized the country’s readiness to continue mediation in Middle East conflicts and called for cooperation from all parties to protect navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

On Saturday, Badr Al-Busaidi said: “Oman once again emphasizes its firm commitment to continue its efforts aimed at safeguarding navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and calls on all parties to cooperate with Oman in these efforts.”

He added: “We ask all relevant parties to resolve remaining differences with restraint and foresight, and through dialogue, so that we can reach political and agreement-based solutions and enduring understandings that are in the interest of all.”

In recent months, Oman, along with Qatar and Pakistan, has played a mediating role between the United States and the Islamic Republic. The Strait of Hormuz, which separates Oman and Iran’s waters, has faced disruptions in maritime traffic since Esfand.

Al-Busaidi also held talks last week on the sidelines of the same assembly with Abbas Araghchi, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, about the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
