No one has given the Islamic Republic of Iran more of a chance to build a deal than I have. But unfortunately for them, they couldn’t use this opportunity. Therefore, today I am announcing what will be the most forceful economic operation in history against a country. This will be a war and economic isolation on an unprecedented scale. Their naval forces are gone, their air force has been destroyed, their military factories are now ash piles, their national currency has become worthless, and their country is hanging by a thread.

Today, I also announce that any country that allows its financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government entities to provide Iran with any kind of breathing room will face extremely heavy economic consequences itself. Oil smuggling, swap lines, transferring cash, money exchanges, registering ships, and shell companies — all of them must be stopped right now. You yourselves know who you are. This will be an economic “D-Day,” and we need all of our allies to stand alongside the United States of America in order to isolate and defeat the threat from Iran. These madmen are on the verge of collapse, and these historic actions will cripple their ability to export terror around the world.
