Nigel Farage, leader of Britain’s Reform Party, announced on Monday, 20 Mehr, that if his party wins the 2029 general election, granting asylum to all applicants will be banned for five years.

He said about 90,000 pending applications will be rejected and new applications will be automatically refused.

Applicants whose requests are denied will also be sent back to countries of origin or to safe third countries.

Speaking in south England, Farage said he could impose tariffs, visa bans, or airspace restrictions on countries that refuse to accept back the refugees who are returned.

He said: “We want to be a normal country again; a country that detains and deports people who enter illegally, as almost all other countries in the world do.”

Farage also said he will revoke all legal resettlement routes for refugees, but he will exempt Ukrainians who fled to Britain after Russia’s invasion in 2022.

In the year leading up to June, citizens of Pakistan, Eritrea, Iran, Sudan and Afghanistan made up the highest number of asylum applicants in the UK.
