Michael Makovsky, president and CEO of the American Jewish Institute for National Security, told Iran International that there is a possibility that Tehran and Washington could reach an agreement, but only if the United States makes significant concessions.

He believes the Islamic Republic does not intend to give up the leverage of the Strait of Hormuz and, contrary to Donald Trump’s assumption, will not retreat under pressure alone. According to him, only if broad military blows are inflicted that threaten the survival of the regime, might Tehran back down.
