Qatar’s state news agency reported that Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the emir of Qatar, on Tuesday, in a phone call with Donald Trump, the U.S. president, reviewed the latest developments in the region, particularly efforts to reduce tensions between the United States and the Islamic Republic and to bring the two sides’ perspectives closer.

According to the report, Trump thanked Qatar for its role in supporting diplomatic efforts and facilitating dialogue between the parties to strengthen regional security and stability.

The emir of Qatar also emphasized the importance of continuing dialogue, using diplomatic solutions, and all parties’ adherence to the terms of the memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington. He also called for support for international initiatives to curb tensions.

The two sides also discussed a number of issues of mutual interest and emphasized continuing coordination and consultations regarding regional and international developments.
