Mehdi Motevly-Azad said on the program “Eygnadaz”: “Under conditions in which economic and military pressures from the United States on the Islamic Republic are increasing, it seems the government of war sees a way to get through the crisis, rather than changing course. In such a situation, it is unlikely that Masoud Pezeshkian’s trip to New York will create any change in relations between Tehran and Washington.”

He added: “In the structure of the Islamic Republic, the president does not have authority to make decisions about negotiating with the United States, and the experience of past presidents has also shown this.
