Mehdat Veysi, senior analyst at Iran International, said: “The appointment of Mehdat Akhlaqi as the new defense minister of the Islamic Republic shows a major decision by the remnants of the Islamic Republic to focus more on building stronger, more destructive, and longer-range missiles—even intercontinental ballistic missiles. From now on, the Ministry of Defense will be more like a missile ministry.”
