The Israeli prime minister rejected the “prior warning” from the President of the United Arab Emirates about the Oct. 7 attack

🔸The office of the Israeli prime minister denied reports published in the media of this country about a “warning” from the President of the United Arab Emirates to Benjamin Netanyahu regarding a looming Oct. 7 attack by the extremist group Hamas.

🔸The office of Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement: “The media reports are inaccurate. No warning was provided by the United Arab Emirates to the prime minister before Oct. 7.”

🔸According to a report first published on Tuesday, Shahrivar 17, in the newspaper Haaretz, Mohammed bin Zayed, president of the United Arab Emirates, about one and a half weeks before Hamas carried out its attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, in a phone call with Benjamin Netanyahu, warned about the extremist group’s plans to carry out a wide-ranging attack.

🔸The report claims that Netanyahu, despite having received this warning, had “refused” to inform Israel’s security chiefs or take any action.

🔸Haaretz published the report based on the contents of a book about to be released by two journalists about the war in Gaza and their investigations, in interviews with dozens of sources, including senior officials in Israel and other countries.

🔸According to Haaretz, in his call, which lasted about 45 minutes, Mohammed bin Zayed had warned Netanyahu that Yahya Sinwar, the then leader of Hamas, was planning a wide-ranging attack on Israel.

🔸Hamas is listed by the United States and the European Union as a terrorist organization. Based on Israeli figures and Amnesty International, in the aforementioned attack, about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, were killed and 251 people, including children, were taken hostage.

🔸The hostage-taking story had long been at the top of the news. Later, some of them were released during Israeli military operations and some under ceasefire agreements.
