🔻Israeli elections; life caught up in politics

In Tel Aviv, we are witnessing long lines at polling stations. More than 7.3 million people are eligible to vote.

It is expected that turnout will exceed 70 percent. This election is the first general election after the attacks of October 7, 2023. Some voters say they are defending democracy, while others say that their vote today is a vote for security.

An Iranian-born woman, whose father is from Tehran, told us that alongside security, her concern in this election is preserving democracy and isolating Israel. Her 11-year-old daughter, who was accompanying her mother, spoke passionately about the family’s preferred candidate; a sign of how much Israeli life is intertwined with politics.
