The Israeli army carried out a new airstrike in southern Lebanon which, according to local sources, took place in the Bint Jbeil area.

The extent of the damage and whether the strike caused casualties were not immediately clear.

This is the second Israeli strike in southern Lebanon in less than a day. Early Sunday, the Israeli army said it had targeted positions which, it claimed, Hezbollah used to launch drones at its soldiers.

The Israeli army still controls about six percent of Lebanese territory and, despite a ceasefire brokered by the United States, has refused to withdraw.

Bezalel Smotrich, Israel’s finance minister, on Saturday called for the annexation of southern Lebanon to Israeli territory up to the Litani River.
