🔻Inter announced that Sandro Mazzola, the club’s legend and former captain, has died at the age of 83. Mazzola spent his entire professional career at Inter. In 17 seasons and 565 matches, he scored 158 goals, and with this team he won Serie A four times and the European championship twice.

🔹Mazzola was the son of Valentino Mazzola, a Torino legend, who died in the Superga air disaster. When Sandro died, his father was only six years old, and later he became acquainted with his father’s legacy through the stories he heard about him.

🔹He entered the world of Inter from childhood, and Giuseppe Meazza and Benito Lorenzi were among the figures who played a role in shaping his football career.

🔹The peak of his rise in “Great Inter,” led by Helenio Herrera, came to fruition. Mazzola scored two goals in the 1964 European Cup final against Real Madrid, and Inter won its first European title. After the match, Ferenc Puskás gave him his shirt and said: “You are a worthy child of Valentino.”

🔹With the Italian national team, Mazzola won the European Championship and took part in several World Cups.
