🔻In a written decree attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei, the new Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohsen Rezaei has been appointed as the “Leader’s” representative on the Supreme National Security Council.

In the decree, Mohammad-Bagher Zolqader was also thanked for his “24/7 efforts.”

Earlier, speculations had been raised about the possibility of Mr. Zolqader resigning from his position as secretary of the Supreme National Security Council.

Mojtaba Khamenei also, in a separate ruling, appointed Mohammad-Bagher Zolqader as his political adviser.

In addition to Mohsen Rezaei, Saeed Jalili is also the Leader’s representative on the Supreme National Security Council.

Under the constitution of the Islamic Republic, resolutions of the Supreme National Security Council must, after approval, be confirmed by the Leader, and the implementation of these resolutions is mandatory.

Masoud Pezeshkian, the president, chairs this council.

Members of the Supreme National Security Council include the heads of the three branches of government, the commander-in-chief of the army, the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the chief of staff of the armed forces, and the ministers of intelligence, foreign affairs, interior affairs, and the head of the Planning and Budget Organization.
