Under an understanding with Oman, for now only commercial vessels are allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, and the southern route will be closed with Oman’s agreement. The current route is temporary, and the two countries must negotiate over a permanent route within 30 to 60 days.

A full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is conditional on lifting the economic blockade and achieving a sustained end to the war on different fronts; otherwise, the strait will remain closed.
