Germany’s justice ministry is working to determine whether there are grounds to ban the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Minister Stefanie Hubig said.

“I am convinced that that we must now seriously and systematically examine whether there are grounds for this ban,” she told the Neue Osnabrьcker Zeitung newspaper, commenting on a possibility of designating the AfD’s activity as “anti-constitutional.”

According to Hubig, she plans to set up a special working group to collect and evaluate relevant materials. "A political and legal decision on the ban will be made on this basis,” she added.
