🔺 Iraqchi: Exchange of messages with the United States is underway, but it does not mean negotiations

▪ The foreign minister of the Islamic Republic said that the exchange of messages with the United States is being carried out through intermediaries, but that this does not mean negotiations. Abbas Araqchi said in a statement to reporters on Sunday: “At present, we are not holding any negotiations with the United States.”

▪ Donald Trump, the U.S. president, on Tuesday, 13 Mordad, said that “all-day talks” had been held with the Islamic Republic and added: “We have very good discussions.”

▪ Now Araqchi says: “There is an exchange of messages through intermediaries, but this is not called negotiations. From our point of view, as long as the violation of the memorandum of understanding has not been fully resolved and the United States has not compensated for what it has violated, there is no possibility of starting negotiations.”
