During anti-government protests in Tirana, the Albanian capital, on Saturday, 16 Aban, protesters threw stones at the police and set fire to trash bins, calling for the resignation of Edi Rama, the country’s prime minister. Police used a water cannon vehicle to disperse the protesters. The protests, which began in May in opposition to the construction of a luxury hotel in a protected area, have repeatedly escalated into clashes between protesters and police forces since mid-October.
