Donald Trump: The United States does not intend to extend the 60-day understandings with Iran
🔸Donald Trump, the president of the United States, announced on Monday, 26 Mordad, and at the same time as the deadline for the memorandum of understanding between Islamabad and Iran ended, that the United States does not seek to extend this memorandum of understanding.
🔸He stated this position during a conversation with reporters at the White House and in response to a question about the memorandum of understanding that was signed on 28 Khordad by him and the President of Iran.
🔸The two-month deadline stipulated in the Islamabad memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States ended on Monday without the two sides reaching a clear outcome for a deal.
🔸Trump also said that Iran wants to reach an agreement with the United States, but, according to him, this agreement is not something that, in his view, is “necessary.”
🔸He also provided an update on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz: “We are taking out of Iran millions of barrels of oil every week; maybe this process will stop, or maybe it will even get bigger.”
🔸The U.S. president added: “The Strait [of Hormuz] is open and the price of oil is going down and it will continue to go down, unless we decide to take much more severe actions than what we are doing now.”
