Donald Trump, the President of the United States, will meet in New York on Tuesday with Delcy Rodriguez, the acting president of Venezuela. The meeting is the first in-person encounter between the two leaders since Washington moved to remove Nicolás Maduro in the month of Dey.

Mike Waltz, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, told reporters that the meeting will take place on the sidelines of a banquet that Trump will hold for participating leaders at the United Nations General Assembly.

The United States and Venezuela signed an energy agreement last month that allows Washington to take control of part of Venezuela’s vast oil reserves.
