The deputy U.S. Treasury minister for international affairs said that Washington has imposed sanctions on more than 1,500 individuals and entities in Iran and has taken measures including restricting the flow of digital currency to Iran in order to cut off the Islamic Republic’s financial resources.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, the U.S. official said that the U.S. government is trying to block all routes used to finance the Islamic Republic, but that the goal of Washington’s policies is not to pressure the people of Iran.
He also said that the Islamic Republic government has not allowed humanitarian aid to reach the people of Iran.
In another part of the interview, the deputy U.S. Treasury minister said that the volume of crude oil transiting the Strait of Hormuz has reached a level close to that of the period before the war.
