Days after the sale of “American rice” at a lower price than similar domestic samples, the source of this American product’s entry into Iran’s markets has been identified. Images and information printed on the packaging of American rice offered in Iran’s market show that these products are packed with a label reading “Special rice from the Iraqi Ministry of Commerce and not for sale,” and it appears they may have been imported into Iraq within the framework of Iraq’s food support program.
