China urges IAEA to stop reviewing Iran nuclear issue

China has urged the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to stop reviewing the Iranian nuclear issue, saying UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which endorsed the 2015 Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA), has expired.

Speaking at a UN General Assembly meeting in New York on Friday, Chinese envoy Sun Lei called on the IAEA to maintain an objective and impartial stance, act within its mandate, and help the parties resume dialogue and negotiations.
